socialstudieswithasmile.com Blog

Welcome

My new students are checking out socialstudieswithasmile.com for the first time and are probably stumbling upon the blog.  This is one of my favorite parts of the website.  I hope it gives me, students (current and past), and possibly even parents the opportunity to communicate about things that don’t always have to do with school.

I am excited about getting to know my new students. We have a great team this year!

See you soon in school!

    Jesse! Don’t scare them!
I remember that Iliana was at my house when I got the postcard. We immediately went on the website and were both very impressed with its organization and… is “helpfulness” a word? Well, anyway, we could tell that a lot of thought went into making the website.

Socialstudieswithasmile.com is an ever evolving enterprise. There are always changes, tweaks, new things that I try and then add to the foundation of what you may remember from a few years ago.

Chris, now I feel bad. We’ve been going on and on about the postcards, but we (at least, I) didn’t know that you never got one. Sorry.

OH, I SEE! I was part of the “experiment” group. I was part of the “trial and error” group, if things don’t go well this year at least it will go well next year. I see your little game!

Well, I DON’T HAVE TO TAKE THIS ABUSE!

    hmph!

Uh, Chris, I don’t think Mr Dowling meant to offend you. And I have a funny feeling you aren’t actually furious.

I’ve been going through this for a few years now with Chris. He could probably teach my class for me if necessary.

I’d like to think of myself as a “bodyguard”.

Hey, by the way, can we have a Caption Craziness soon, Mr Dowling? I really miss it!

    Nice pun Jesse…

Am I the only one who noticed it??

  15. Comment by Chris on August 27, 2010 at 1:28 pm

    I see it…

I thought he just spelled it wrong; the punctuation and grammar was already off.

  16. Comment by Elizabeth on August 27, 2010 at 10:00 pm

I noticed, and I thought it might scare the future 7th graders, so I told Jesse so.

  17. Comment by Jesse on August 28, 2010 at 8:10 am

I shouldn’t say this but because typing on my iPod is hard-ish, it was mis-spelled….

  18. Comment by Chris on August 28, 2010 at 10:12 am

In a moment of clarity, I’ve just asked myself

“What do the 7th graders think of us?”

  19. Comment by Elizabeth on August 28, 2010 at 10:39 am

Hopefully, they think we’re so weird that they don’t even want to virtually communicate with us.

  20. Comment by Mr. Dowling on August 28, 2010 at 4:17 pm

NO!!! You’re supposed to be virtually welcoming! You aren’t supposed to act like those weird cousins you try to hide from people.

  21. Comment by Wyn on August 29, 2010 at 7:23 am

Funny, when I read that, my cousin was standing next to me….saying something weird….

  22. Comment by Elizabeth on August 29, 2010 at 10:33 am

Kidding, everyone… I was only kidding. Of course, I’ll welcome the new 7th graders. And I wonder what your cousin thinks of YOU, Wyn!
