They say being on the cover of Sports Illustrated is bad luck. Uh Oh!!! Look at this week’s coverboy:

Forget MVP! I think that Votto has a shot at the Triple Crown. As of a couple of days ago, he led the NL in batting average, and was among the top 3 or 4 in homers and RBIs. Go Votto!

I think he’ll win the batting title…I don’t think he’ll lead the league in HRs or RBI. To me, Pujols has a better chance of winning the triple crown…but you didn’t hear that from me.

Maybe you are right. Votto did have 2 HRs and 4 RBI yesterday.

Everyday, it seems, I hear that Votto hit a home run or had a walk off hit or 4 RBIs or something. Speaking of walk off, congratulations on the Reds managing to edge out the Giants after blowing a 9 run lead. And I’ll look up Votto’s stats and get back to you…

Okay, here goes: Votto has 31 homers, tied for 2nd in the league. He has 90 RBIs, 2nd alone in the league. He is batting .326, 1st in the league by 6 points. I still say that he has a great chance, as of yesterday, to win the Triple Crown. Those stats don’t lie.

I was at my cousins house a few days ago and his room is littered with copies of Sports Illustrated, and I saw the reds issue…
