Kids Do The Darnedest Things (And It Is Not About My Son)

During all the excitement surrounding the arrival of DJ, a crazy story was emerging about the Air Traffic Controller letting his son/daughter in the tower to call out important information to airplanes.
Shocking, Stupid, Amazing…I would never have expected something like this to happen. Hopefully, they will make some rules to end this.
I think the political cartoon from Newsday a few days ago says it all.

Did You Know?
If NASA sent birds into space they would soon die because they need gravity to swallow.

Good luck on the Earth Science Test today. Personally, Earth Science was my least favorite class in high school.

How could anyone be so stupid???

No wonder some people are afraid to go on airplanes.

For some reason, I don’t see what’s so bad about the whole plane thing……

Wyn, would you want a little kid instructing the pilot what to do, if you were on the plane?

Did the plane crash or something? I hope not. Good cartoon. What did you all think of the earth science? I thought it was so-so, but a lot better than the Accelerated Math Test. That was pure torture..

I think that the parent was standing behind the kid and telling the kid what to say!!!!!!! Just because i don’t think the kid would know all those words to tell the plane to departure!!!!

I thought it was kind of funny…..

Think about it…….your kids are off from school…..you don’t have anywhere to keep them so you bring them to work…to keep them amused you let them talk on the radio….all you let them say is “ready for take off” and even then your standing behind them telling them what to say…..that seems REALLY bad to you?? I mean, it could get the guy on probation but other than that??

No, to my knowledge there were no incidents related to the kid/traffic controller.

A surgeon brings his daughter to work, watches everything she does but lets her perform the surgery…any problem with that?

  10. Comment by Emily on March 9, 2010 at 6:16 pm

See I don’t have a problem that the parent was standing behind the kid and telling the kid what to say but I do have a problem the the surgeon’s child is preforming the surgery!!!! It just feels unsafe to me!! (not about the airplane, the surgery)

I agree with Emily! How’s little DJ doing? and Mrs. Dowling?

  12. Comment by Emily on March 9, 2010 at 6:19 pm

Heyyyyy Wyn and everybody else what do you think about your surgeon’s kid is doing your surgery and the the surgeon who is getting paid a lot of money??!! Which is the most unsafe the airplane or the surgery???

  13. Comment by Emily on March 9, 2010 at 6:20 pm

Thanks lliana!!!! I am glad someone is on my side

  14. Comment by Wyn on March 9, 2010 at 6:42 pm

Yes….open-heart surgury preformed by a kid would give me a heart attack (which doesn’t really make sense because the heart is out in the open at that point)

    but that’s another matter entirely…..

  15. Comment by Rachel E. on March 9, 2010 at 6:46 pm

I would say the plane because there are a lot of people on a plane but with surgery you’re dealing with one person.

  16. Comment by Wyn on March 9, 2010 at 7:31 pm

But the kids wouldn’t crash it!!!!! They just passed along the message of take off!!!

  17. Comment by Chris on March 9, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Let’s take a small, simple, effortless act such as flight, and take a crowd of people’s general health, then let the child direct.

  18. Comment by Wyn on March 9, 2010 at 8:35 pm

I can’t figure out what that means Chris……..please explain??

  19. Comment by Iliana on March 9, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Emily, I’m still on your side. You are 100% right.

Wyn, you are not stupid. Your a smart kid. Just read it over and you’ll figure it out!

  20. Comment by Wyn on March 9, 2010 at 9:53 pm

    Still can’t figure it out!!??!!

  21. Comment by Jesse on March 9, 2010 at 10:50 pm

    I agree with Emily also.

  22. Comment by Sameer on March 10, 2010 at 2:24 pm

    I think that is pretty dangerous to let your kid call out airplane information. Mr. Dowling, the comic you posted was funny but sad;

  23. Comment by Sameer on March 10, 2010 at 2:26 pm

Continuing to my previous comment… Even though the people aren’t real it is sad how the dad lost his job.

  24. Comment by Emily on March 10, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Rachel I understand where you are coming

  25. Comment by Elizabeth on March 10, 2010 at 5:25 pm

Wyn, that is just ridiculous and you know it! How could the parent let the kid do something like that? What is the kid accidentally gave the wrong directions, like “Clear for take off” instead of “Don’t even think of taking off”? Then, Houston, we have a problem. Oh, and the comic was really funny.
