Why were the Articles of Confederation doomed to fail?

• Congress is unable to regulate trade between states or between states and foreign countries.
  
  
• No power to tax. Congress had to ask the states for money and the states were not obligated to contribute.
  
  
• Debt from the war-could not be paid
  
  
• Continental money had little value. Each state made its own money=Confusion
  
  
• No system of national courts
  
  
• No President
